Top LeT militant arrested in Dhaka

The top most Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in Bangladesh,overseeing the group's militant movements across the Indian borders,was arrested by the police in a midnight swoop from the capital.

The top most Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in Bangladesh,overseeing the group’s militant movements across the Indian borders,was arrested by the police in a midnight swoop from the capital,the police said 28-year-old,Emdadullah alias Mahbub was captured by the police when they raided his hideout at Gabtali area of Dhaka on a tip off.

He was described as the main co-ordinator of the Pakistan based LeT who the police said had sneaked into the country in 2006,implying that he was not a Bangladeshi national.

Emdadullah,the police said,was also involved in transportation of bomb making materials across the border.

This is the second major catch of militants by the Bangladesh’s authorities in the last few weeks. Earlier,the country’s specialised anti-terror police busted training centres of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in deep jungles and arrested a number of top militants of the group.

The authorities said they will disclose more details about the arrest of the LeT militant later in the day.
