A group of friends stumble upon a couple of steel trunks in a forest. They bring the locked boxes back home, and discover a huge stash of cash. Life, as they’ve known it, is over.

Greed rears its ugly head. The friends start bickering over the money. A safe-cracker cum blackmailer is killed, leaving a trail of ghostly blood. A deadpan cop in dark glasses ( Zakir Hussain) shows up. A couple of hoods ( Mahesh Manjrekar, Sushant Singh) enter the game, accompanied by the creepiest kid ( Hardik) we’ve seen in Hindi cinema, and they give us a Brian de Palma moment. The bad guys use an electric saw to quarter a body and stack the pieces in garbage bags; the boy, who is the youngest brother of the two baddies, looks on smilingly. Shudder.

`Toss’ starts off as a dark Bollywood-via-Hollywood thriller, throwing up a few interesting twists off and on. The characters are satisfactorily weird, but the acting, overall, is patchy. It also gets much too stretched, and we can see the twist in the climax long before it comes.
