Police have ruled out robbery as the motive for the attack,as Kumar was not carrying a large amount of cash or valuables. “There has been no robbing. Most likely,it is a case of enmity or revenge,” the official added.

Kumar’s nephew, who was present outside the ICU ward of the Moolchand Hospital, said Kumar did not have bad relations with anyone.

“My uncle was shot in the stomach. He is better now,and doctors say he will soon be well enough to talk to us. We do not know why this happened because he never had any enemies,or so we thought,” he said.
