The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has sent its recommendations on the proposed licensing policy for mobile TV services to the I&B ministry. The broadcast regulator has recommended 74 per cent foreign direct investment in the services besides a bidding process for allocation of licenses.
Telecom operators, which have CMTS or UASL licence, will not require any further permission or licence for offering mobile television service on their own network, Trai said, adding that the licence fee should be charged at 4 per cent of the annual gross revenue or 10 per cent of the one time entry-fee limit for the licence area- whichever is higher. Initially, the operators will get licences for 10 years to provide mobile television services.
