With the cancellation of the Chandigarh-Allahabad Unchahar Express (4218),hundreds of passengers were left stranded on the Chandigarh railway station on Monday. The Kalka-Howrah Mail that leaves at 1.10 am also reportedly stands cancelled. The collision of two goods trains near Kanpur,on Sunday,led to the cancellation of the two trains. The passengers,in the absence of any information,faced a lot of inconvenience as they waited endlessly on the station. After waiting at the station for around an hour we learnt that the train has been cancelled. The authorities should be prepared for such kind of incidents. The train could have been diverted through some other route. The last minute information makes passengers feel helpless as they are not left with any other travel option, said an anguished passenger. While passengers opined that railway authorities should be pro-active to handle such situations,the authorities expressed their helplessness in tackling such unpredicted events. Meanwhile,three hundred passengers have reportedly cancelled their tickets for the next few days.
