His brother is on the run following an arrest warrant in the Vedic land grab case
Arabul Islam, the controversial Trinamool MLA from Bhangor whose brother is on the run following an arrest warrant for his alleged role in the Vedic Village land grab case, was today removed from the post of president of Bhangor 2 block committee by his party on charges of indiscipline.
Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee also dissolved
the Bhangor 2 block committee of which Arabul was the president.
Shobhon Chatterjee, president of Trinamool Committee in South 24-Parganas district, said: “There is no compromise on discipline in the party. Arabul was found to be indisciplined and therefore our leader has decided to remove him from the post. The block committee has also been dissolved.”
Trinamool MLA Partho Chatterjee, who is also Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, has been informed of the decision.
Sources in the Trinamool, however, said the MLA’s role in the Vedic Village incident might have prompted the latest action.
Arabul’s brother Azizul Islam alias Khude is alleged to be a close aide of Gaffar Mollah, a local strongman who is said to have grabbed land in the Rajaharhat-Bhangor area at the behest of the Vedic Village
management.
