Trinamool denies link with Maoists

Trinamool Congress said it neither has any connection with the Maoist extremists nor supports its ideology or action.

Rebutting CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose’s allegation that the party has links with the Maoists,Trinamool Congress said it neither has any connection with the extremists nor supports its ideology or action.

“Bose is known for talking nonsense. We have repeatedly said we have no connection with the Maoists and we don’t support their ideology or action,” said senior Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy.

Roy,who is also the Union minister of state for urban development, said Nandigram was a mass movement where the Maoists played no significant part.

“The movement (Nandigram) was led by Trinamool Congress, whereas in Lalgarh, the people’s movement has been pushed towards the Maoists by some police action of the CPI(M)-led state government,” he added.
