  • Loomba Trust, an NGO recognised by the United Nations and working for the betterment of the widows and their children today sponsored education of 50 children of the widows. A function was organised at the Children’s Valley school to observe International Widow’s Day.

Loomba Trust was formed by an NRI, Raj Loomba in 1997 in the memory of his mother late Pushpawati Loomba.

The trust today observed its 5th anniversary. Although the NGO is UK-based but its Ludhiana branch organised function in the city.

Ashish Chaudhary, one of the sponsors, said, “Today, we sponsored school education of 50 students whose mothers have monthly income less than Rs 2,000. Most of the widows are working as domestic help in the houses. After considering the performance of the children, we will also sponsor their higher education.”

Are they really helping widowsBy: Deepak | 24-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward Business, business and business.....! How come without seeing any benefit, Raj Loomba supports the so called poor widows! Punjab government needs to review their own status, if it is not able to support the poor and government of India as well if it fails in educating children. Families having low income remained the focus of government, so, why Loomba is so interested in them! This needs to be doubly checked by external affair, education and ministry of home affairs about the fudging of funds.
