  • Armed with the Supreme Court order allowing it to use twin spark plug technology over which it is locked in a patent tussle with Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company relaunched 125 CC ‘Flame’ bike with twin spark plugs.

After a long drawn out battle, the Supreme Court had on September 16 last allowed the city-based third largest two-wheeler maker by volume to sell TVS Flame with twin spark plug, which uses two igniters for better fuel efficiency.

Locked in the legal tussle, TVS Motor had launched the Flame motorcycle early last year with a single spark ignition engine instead of the twin-spark technology.

For relaunching the vehicle, the company has utilised the three valve CC-VTi technology, fired by twin spark plugs, a company release said.

The technology has been developed with AVL Austria and the 125 cc three valve engine is tuned to deliver superior performance and deliver high fuel efficiency, it said.

The company claimed TVS Flame DS 125 was the only bike to have a combination of three valves and two spark plugs.

It is priced at Rs 49,200, slightly higher than the existing version and available in dual tone colours of red and black, the release added.
