Two members of a Valsad gang-who supplied liquor to dens across Gujarat-were sent to Mehsana and Palanpur jails under the Prohibition of Anti Social Activities (PASA) Act, on Sunday.
Manoj Ditosa (32) from Chital Village in Amreli, and Arvind Yadav (30) from Daman, worked as the main suppliers for the kingpin in Valsad.
Sandip Singh, Superintendent of Police, Ahmedabad (Rural), said: “Based on the information provided by the two accused, we searched for the main accused in Valsad. But the duo gave us false information. They gave us nearly five to six names, but even after all raids and searches, we are yet to find the main culprit. They have been misleading the police for the last two weeks.”
The Ahmedabad Rural Police, however, claim to have found that the area of operation of the kingpin happened to be the house of the accused at Valsad.
He also reportedly had godowns in Valsad and Daman, maintained by Yadav, who supplied the maximum quota of liquor to south Gujarat followed by Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
Ditosa was called to Valsad only for bulk orders for Saurashtra, from where the supply was directed towards Jamangar and Amreli.
The Rural Police have now tightened the vigil in Valsad to trace the absconding kingpin.
The police claim to have made headway through the mobile tracking records of the duo, but have refused to divulge further details.
