Two brothers die in Jhajjar as earth caves in

Two brothers of Jhajjar village died on Friday when they were trying to replace an electric motor installed inside a borewell. On Thursday evening, before Mukesh could succeed in removing the electric motor from the borewell, the earth caved in and he was buried. His brother, Manoj (42), entered the borewell to save him, but more earth caved in and Manoj was also buried. Officials said while Mukesh was trapped at least 30 feet below, Manoj was trapped around 12 feet below earth. After the rescue operation that lasted two hours, Manoj was brought out while Mukesh could be brought out only an hour later. While Manoj died at PGIMS, Rohtak, Mukesh was declared dead on arrival at the civil hospital.
