Two days after languishing in Arthur Road Jail, actor Raghubir Yadav was finally released after he paid half the money he owes to his estranged wife.

Raghubir, against whom a warrant had been issued by the Bandra family court last September for failing to appear before it despite regular summons, was arrested at Mumbai Central railway station last Friday night.

His estranged wife Purnima had approached the court in 2002 after the actor failed to pay maintenance for four years.

After getting married in 1988,the couple divorced in 1996 on mutual consent. “Raghubir Yadav was directed to pay alimony of Rs 10,000 to Purnima. Only after spending two days behind bar did he pay up finally. Although, its just half the amount,” said Purnima’s lawyer Sumangal Biradar.

Raghubir was produced on Monday before the Bandra family court where he paid half the arrears he owe to Purnima and gave an undertaking that he would pay the remaining amount on June 14.

Raghubir, who has been evading arrest since September last, was sent to the Arthur Road prison in central Mumbai on Saturday after he failed to pay at least half of the arrears.

Raghubir has acted in several movies like Delhi 6,Firaaq and Darna Mana Hai and also television serials and theatre productions.
