Fake bill books seized from Mukesh Kumar, Shiv Kumar

Two persons have been arrested for allegedly evading the Value Added Tax (VAT).

The police claimed that the arrested persons used to make bogus bills to evade tax thus cheated the Taxation Department and caused huge loss to the state exchequer.

The police claim to have seized fake bills books from local businessmen Mukesh Kumar alias Rinku and Shiv Kumar Pandey. The police said the bill books had been printed in the names of some local genuine firms but were being used illegally by the accused.

Giving the details of the case, SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor said a local hosiery owner Jagan Nath, who runs Hanuman Hosiery factory in the city, had recently been questioned by the Sales Tax department for selling goods worth over Rs 1.20 crore in the last six months but paying the tax for goods worth Rs 21 lakh only.

These revelations raised eyebrows of the hosiery owner who approached the police.

SP Toor said that while investigating the case, the police came to know that Mukesh Kumar and Shiv Kumar Pandey were involved in the evasion of VAT using the fake bill books of Jagan Nath’s hosiery. SP Toor said that out of the 18 fake bill books of different firms, seized from the accused, one bill book is also of Jagan Nath’s firm.

Toor said that further investigations were on in this case.

Two arrested for dodging sales tax

The police arrested two persons, Ravinder Kumar alias Raju and Manish Kumar alias Mani, for illegally using the sales tax numbers of other firms for ferrying their goods to evade sales tax.
