The Makarpura police on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of one Sandeep Kadam in the Manjalpur area in the early hours of the day.
The police said, Kadam, a resident of Chadralok Society, was murdered by three of his neighborhood “drinking buddies” following a brawl. The accused wanted to “meet” Kadam as they had a fight with him the previous day, said the police.
According to a complaint by Sachin, the deceased’s brother, one Mayur Manaji Rao Gaekwad, Bhavesh alias Balu Manaji Rao Gaekwad, Prashant alias Kaniyo and Montu Richard Makwan attacked Sandeep when he went to meet them. One of the accused damaged his motorcycle, while the others attacked him on the chest and stomach with sharp instruments. Kadam was rushed to the SSG Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A Makarpura police officer said: “We have been unable to ascertain the reason behind the murder. It seems Kadam used to go out with the accused regularly. Recently, they had a fight. The accused called him up to meet them late on Saturday night, so that they could sort out the issue, as per Sachin who is the complainant in the case.”
The police said Mayur and Bhavesh were arrested from the same locality.
