In fresh violence on the campus of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, two students were injured in a violent clash between the activists of Independent Students’ Union (ISU) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad (ABVP) late last evening.
Soon after the clash between two rival factions, the varsity authorities expelled both the students from the hostel and suspended classes till further orders. A three-member fact-finding committee has also been constituted and will submit its report within a week to the vice-chancellor. Meanwhile, an additional police force has also been deployed on the campus to prevent any untoward incident.
The injured, Digvijay, a student of MSc biotechnology, and Ranjeet Singh, a second-year student of BSc Forestry, were discharged after first aid at the vuniversity’s health centre.
Meanwhile, a large number of students today boycotted classes and staged a dharna outside the administrative block, demanding stern action against the activists of ABVP. Earlier, ISU activists took out a procession and held a rally on the campus.
The university’s Students Welfare Officer A S Chandel, said action has already been initiated against the trouble-creating students, adding that it was a minor clash between some students. He said letters have also been written to the wards of the students.
