A tabla master and his teenaged cousin allegedly battered to death a youth on New Year eve in west Delhi who used to send "obscene" text messages to his girl friend,police said. Harnam Singh (24) and his cousin Harjeet Singh (18) were arrested for allegedly beating to death their "close friend" Rocky (23) with a baseball bat in Keshavpuram on December 31 after inviting him for a New Year party. Harnam,a school dropout,is a tabla master while Harjeet Singh is a Class X student. The murder came to light on January one when the body was discovered in a secluded place,V Renganathan,Deputy Commissioner of Police (West),said. "Friends and close relatives of Rocky were interrogated and during this process,the team zeroed down two of his close friends Harnam and Harjeet," Renganathan said. During questioning,he said,Harnam told police that he was angry over Rocky sending obscene messages and frequently calling his girl friend. "He then planned with his cousin and called Rocky for a New Year party and took him on their vehicle to a lonely place. After reaching there,they consumed liquor following which there was a heated argument regarding Rocky's behaviour," Renganathan said. During the argument,Harnam suddenly took out the base ball bat from his jacket and allegedly hit Rocky on his head repeatedly. "Both Harnam and Harjeet then fled from the spot while Rocky bled to death," he said.
