LUCKNOW: A group of armed men burnt two men alive in a car and shot dead a third because of old enmity in Shikohabad area of Ferozabad district on Tuesday. A youth accompanying the victims escaped the attack. Two of the victims were accused in a murder case and the attack was executed by their rivals, Ferozabad SP Aparna HS said. Circle Officer, Shikohabad, Shishya Pal Singh said the incident took place around 10.30 am when Shashi Singh, his brother Ravi and cousin Ramesh were on their way to attend the hearing in a murder case in a local court. Their friend Ram Rishi was accompanying them. Armed men in two vehicles intercepted their car in Shikohabad. Singh said that Ram Rishi and Shashi, sitting on the rear seats, opened the doors of the car soon after their vehicle was intercepted and ran away. Some of the armed men held Ravi, who was in the driver's seat, and his cousin Ramesh, sitting beside, at gunpoint while others chased Shashi and shot him. Ram Rishi managed to escape the attack as he had ran in a different direction. The assailants then set the car on fire, stayed there until Ravi and Ramesh were burnt alive.
Last phase of local body election today
Lucknow: Polling for the fourth and last phase of the three-tier urban local body election would be held in 17 districts on Wednesday. Districts to be covered in the fourth phase include Ghaziabad, Bijnore, Pilibhit, Mathura, Kanshiram Nagar, Jhansi, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Unnao, Sitapur, Bahraich, Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Ghazipur and Sonbhadra. In the naxal-affected Chitrakoot and Mahoba districts of Bundelkhand, polling would be held from 6.30 am to 5.30 am whereas in remaining districts it would be held between 7 am and 6 pm.
