Two more persons succumbed to H1N1 virus on Tuesday. Kusum Pawar,48-year-old from Satara,was suffering from cold and fever and was admitted to the Noble Hospital . Her swab tested positive for the virus and she died on August 2. In another incident,a 52-year-old Chhaya Kamble from Navi Sanghvi died on August 2 at YCM Hospital. She was suffering from July 25,according to a release issued by the District Information Office.
There have been 90 swine flu deaths since April,according to the release. A total of 898 persons have tested positive for the virus and 139 patients have been hospitalised. When contacted,Dr AC Mishra,director,National Institute of Virology said there was a break in transmission during the summer months and now with the climate change there has been a rise in the number of cases. So far,there is no mutation and preventive measures are available. Dr DB Kadam,head,Department of Medicine at Sassoon General Hospital,pointed out that there is a normal increase in the number of flu cases and it could be both seasonal or swine flu.
