An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the UT traffic police was hit by a car at a drunken driving naka at the dividing road of Sector 23 and Sector 24 on January 3. ASI Ravinder Singh got injured and was admitted in Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16.
The ASI sustained minor injures and a fracture. The incident took place at 11.11 pm when ASI Ravinder Singh tried to stop a car at the naka. The driver of the car did not stop and sped, injuring the ASI. Due to the fog, the police officials and traffic marshal on duty could not note the registration numbers of the car.
In another incident which took place on January 2, Inspector Sarwan Singh was hit by a car driven by Jaswinder Singh a resident of Village-Palsora at a naka near the All India Radio (AIR) station in Sector 34. The inspector was in a government gypsy which was hit by a car. He was injured and was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The accused was arrested.
