In two incidents of robbery, a wholesale trader was robbed of Rs 2 lakh and a Mumbai jeweller of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh.
Ashok Kumar, an egg wholesaler near model gram railway station, was robbed of Rs 2 lakh at gunpoint on Thursday morning. Afterwards, the robbers ran away on a bike.
Ashok said he had to give Rs 2 lakh to a trader which he had kept in a bucket in his shop and was waiting for him. However, all of a sudden two clean-shaven boys in their 20s entered the shop and snatched the bucket from him. He ran behind them but they fired at him. But the bullet did not hit him as it passed through the tyre of a rickshaw standing nearby.
"Another turbaned boy was waiting for the duo on a bike. They quickly jumped onto the bike and the trio ran away with the bucket and money along. As they fired at me, I stopped running after them," said Ashok.
In another incident on Wednesday night, a Mumbai jeweller, Sanjay Mehta, was robbed of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh. Sanjay was returning to his hotel after meeting jewellers at Mall road. He said two persons — one wearing a turban and other clean-shaven — posed themselves as I-T officials and asked him to show the bag. When he showed the bag, the duo took out the pouch containing diamond and gold jewellery and ran away quickly.
ADCP Nilambari Jagdale said, "We have taken the CCTV footage and have taken statements of a few persons as well. Our team is working on this case."
