Two textile workers found dead in water tank of Surat unit

On Monday,the company’s manager,Chandarakant Navadiwala,was doing the rounds of the unit as per his routine. Finding no one present at the water plant,he ordered a search during which labourers spotted two bodies in a wastage water tank in the plant.

On being informed,firemen arrived and fished out the bodies from the tank. Later,Pandesara police took charge and sent the bodies to New Civil Hospital for post mortem.

On Tuesday afternoon,the bodies were handed over to the families of the deceased.

New Civil Hospital’s Dr Omkar Choudhary said,“We have carried out post mortem. There was no injury mark on the bodies and no poisonous substance was found. We suspect both of them died due to asphyxiation.”

Navdiwala said,“The water level in the tank was only three feet and we are also puzzled as to why they entered the tank.”

Pandesara police inspector A B Vatalia said,“We are also trying to find out why they entered the water tank.”

Police have lodged a case of accidental death and started investigations.
