The bodies of two textile labourers were fished out of a water tank of a textile processing unit at Pandesara in Surat on Monday evening,police said.
The deceased,Premlal Yadav (35) from Buxar district and Sudhir Yadav (20) from Rohtas in Bihar,worked at the water treatment plant in Shalu dyeing and printing unit at Pandesara in the city. They had reportedly gone missing on Monday afternoon while they were on duty.
On Monday,the companys manager,Chandarakant Navadiwala,was doing the rounds of the unit as per his routine. Finding no one present at the water plant,he ordered a search during which labourers spotted two bodies in a wastage water tank in the plant.
On being informed,firemen arrived and fished out the bodies from the tank. Later,Pandesara police took charge and sent the bodies to New Civil Hospital for post mortem.
On Tuesday afternoon,the bodies were handed over to the families of the deceased.
New Civil Hospitals Dr Omkar Choudhary said,We have carried out post mortem. There was no injury mark on the bodies and no poisonous substance was found. We suspect both of them died due to asphyxiation.
Navdiwala said,The water level in the tank was only three feet and we are also puzzled as to why they entered the tank.
Pandesara police inspector A B Vatalia said,We are also trying to find out why they entered the water tank.
Police have lodged a case of accidental death and started investigations.
