ULFA militant killed in Sivasagar blast

  • An ULFA militant was killed and four persons injured when militants triggered two explosions in two different towns of Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district on Thursday.

    Sivasagar SP Shyamal Saikia said over the phone that an ULFA militant was killed when a bomb he was carrying went off in front of two fruit stalls at Sonari town on Thursday.

    The militant, whose body was badly mutilated, was later identified as Dulu Chetia, a member of ULFA’s 28th battalion.

    The SP said two ULFA militants were later tracked to a hotel in the Paltanbazar area of Guwahati on the basis of documents recovered from Chetia. The two were identified as Nalin Gogoi and Krishna Sharma, members of the same group.

    Meanwhile, another blast rocked Moranhat in Sivasagar district at around 3 pm. SP Saikia said the explosion, triggered by a timer, occurred inside the compound of a temple. compound at Moranhat.
