Unidentified gunmen allegedly fired upon Manoranjana Sinh, Managing Director of Northeast Television, a Guwahati-based private television channel, here late Saturday night, prompting the channel owner to point finger at the Congress-led Government.

“I was driving to my office at 2:40 at night when a black Tata Sumo passed my vehicle and people sitting inside it fired bullets at me,” Sinh said here on Sunday.

She said this happened even as there were two police pickets on both ends of the road near her TV studio on AK Azad Road.

The police have registered a case at Paltanbazar police station while an FIR has also been lodged by the CRPF that provides security to Sinh.

“There are some bullet marks on a building adjacent to the NETV building. A case has been registered. Investigations are on,” said Guwahati City SP V K Ramisetti said.
