  • Following complaints by the state government over the alleged delay in Central road projects in UP, Union Minister of State for Surface Transport R P N Singh will hold a meeting with state government officials in Lucknow on Thursday.

Sources in the state government said the minister will review the utility of the Central funds allocated for road projects in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a government press release, the state will brief Singh on the slow progress in the construction of roads by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) across UP, besides the poor condition of roads.

On July 26, Chief Minister Mayawati had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, alleging non-cooperation of the Central agencies in the state’s development, the release added. In her letter, Mayawati had requested the Prime Minister to ensure the release of the allocated funds for the sanctioned projects. “The minister will hear the state government’s complaint against the NHAI,” a source said.
