Unwell Sonia gives R Day celebrations a miss

The Congress President could not attend the Republic Day celebrations as she is down with fever.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi could not attend the Republic Day celebrations on Wednesday as she is down with fever.

Gandhi,who is also the UPA Chaiperson,is running a fever since Tuesday and was unable to attend the banquet hosted by President Pratibha Patil in honour of the visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono,Party General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said here.

Gandhi,64,was on Wednesday conspicuous by her absence at the Republic Day parade and the ‘At Home’ hosted by the President.

Her son and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi was present at the parade and was seen clicking pictures of a floral tableau on “Save the Tigers” theme.
