Uttar Pradesh has witnessed an increase of 16.6 per cent in the overall pass percentage in Class X results this year. The Board of High School and Intermediate Education declared the high school results on Saturday. The overall pass percentage is 56.67 per cent against last years 40.07 per cent.
Girls have once again outdone boys,with 67.69 per cent of them clearing the Class X hurdle. The overall pass percentage of boys is 48.44. The students of Mathura district topped in the exam with 80.05 per cent results,followed by Ghazipur with 73.94 per cent and Ballia and Mau with 73.03 per cent and 71.94 per cent,respectively. At 33.89 per cent,Chitrakoot scored the lowest pass percentage,while that of Lucknow,too,remained low with 45.98.
In the region-wise results,Varanasi topped with 63.18 per cent candidates clearing the examination. Among the other three regions,Meerut scored 55.27 per cent results,while Allahabad and Bareilly had a pass percentage of 50.63 and 49.93,respectively. As many as 31,22,689 students appeared in the board examinations this year. Of the 17,88,318 boys,8,66,345 cleared the exam,while 9,03,299 of the 13,34,371 girls were declared successful.
