UP criminals wanted in Nimbalkar murder

Two historysheeters from UP have been named in the murder of Congress leader from Maharashtra,Pawanraje Nimbalkar.

Two historysheeters from UP have been named in the murder of Congress leader from Maharashtra,Pawanraje Nimbalkar. The police have claimed that NCP leader Padamsinh Patil,arrested recently,had given the contract to murder Nimbalkar to Gyanendra Pandey alias Chhotu and Kailash Yadav,both residents of Ambedkar Nagar.

Nimbalkar and his driver Samad Qazi were shot dead by two men at Kalambuli on Mumbai-Puna Expressway on June 3,2006.

A CBI team visited Ambedkar Nagar two days ago and made inquiries about them.

Additional DG,Law & Order,Brij Lal said the Uttar Pradesh Police have been coordinating with the CBI for their arrest. “According to the CBI,the duo was given the contract to murder the Congress leader,” said the ADG.

Sources said the names of Pandey and Yadav were revealed during interrogation of two other accused,Paras Jain and Dinesh Tiwari,who were in CBI custody till June 1.

Pandey came out of jail on bail in a murder case about a month ago,while Yadav runs a girls’ college and was associated with the BSP until some time ago. Yadav also contested the Assembly election in 1993 as an Independent candidate and was arrested for booth capturing and violence at a polling centre in Hanswar area the same year.

While Pandey is a historysheeter at the Akbarpur police station and is named in 14 cases of heinous crimes,Yadav is a historysheeter at Hanswar police station and faces at least 13 cases,including those under the Gangsters Act and Goonda Act.

Interestingly,Ambedkar Nagar Police Superintendent BD Paulson denied Yadav had any criminal antecedents or connection with any political party.

Ambedkar Nagar district BSP president Ram Prakash Gautam said: “Yadav was a office bearer with party’s district committee till a few months ago. He is no more with the party.”

Station Officer of Hanswar police station DD Mishra said Yadav belongs to Baniyani village in the area,but had shifted to Baskhari about 15 years ago.
