UP govt denies Rajnath allegations, says Varun fit

    Uttar Pradesh govt rejected BJP chief Rajnath Singh's charge that Varun Gandhi was being harassed by state authorities.

    Rejecting BJP chief Rajnath Singh's charge that Varun Gandhi was being harassed by state authorities, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Pilibhit was meted out "good treatment" and that he was fit.

    "The allegation of Rajnath Singh regarding harassment of Varun is far from truth. Varun is being meted out good treatment as per the jail manual. Directives of Human Rights Commission in this regard are being followed," state government said in a statement issued in Lucknow on Tuesday.

    "All the facilities are being given to Varun as per the manual and as per the directions of Chief Judicial Magistrate. He has been allowed to take homemade food inside the jail," the statement said.

    "A daily health checkup of Varun is being done and as per medical reports he is fit and has not lost weight," it said, adding that the allegation that Varun was unwell was not true.

    NO PERSON WHO COMMITS CRIME ADMITBy: B S GANESH, | 07-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward I refer to he report that UP Government refuses to agree with the allegations of Rajnath Singh that Varun is being harased by arrest and imposition of NASA. Indians have seen every person who commits crime or fault has the habit refusing to admit. Hence it is quite natural for UP government or any party dividing the country on religiobn basis agree for having comitted a mistake. It is only patriotic Indians irrespective of their religion wants unity and agree support Varun. B S GANESH,
