In the first post-election reshuffle to hit the police department in Uttar Pradesh,the BSP-ruled government on Friday changed 18 district police chiefs and transferred 16 other IPS officers. The ruling BSP had lost in 17 of the districts that got new police chiefs,with Gautam Budh Nagar being the only exception. Home Department sources revealed that more heads are likely to roll soon. In addition,said sources,a transfer list of about 370 inspectors and sub-inspectors has also been made from 15 of the districts where the Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been changed.

Those transferred included SP of Mainpuri Ajay Kumar Mishra,who was replaced by SP Baghpat D K Rai. The Commandant of the 36th Battalion of the Police Armed Constabulary (PAC) Varanasi,Deepak Kumar,was asked to take Rai’s place.

Chandra Prakash,DIG (Railways) at Lucknow,exchanged places with B P Tripathi,DIG/SSP of Allahabad,while Aditya Mishra DIG (Technical Services) at Lucknow,was posted as DIG/SSP of Bareilly,replacing S K Singh who went to PAC,Moradabad Sector,as DIG. Aligarh (Range) DIG Brij Bhushan took the place of DIG/SSP Meerut Ajay Anand,who is yet to be given a posting. Vijay Pratap Singh,DIG in PAC at Moradabad is sent to Aligarh range.

SSP of Gautam Budh Nagar Naveen Arora has been made Commandant of the 32nd Battalion of the PAC,Lucknow,and replaced by A K Singh,SP (Intelligence) at headquarters.

Deputy Director in traffic D C Mishra replaced SP of Rae Bareli Tarun Gauba who is transferred to Badaun in the same capacity while Vir Bahadur Singh,Commandant of 45 battalion of PAC,Aligarh,is transferred as SP,Chandauli,replacing M D Karnadhar who went as Commandant of the 49 battalion of PAC at Mau. Upendra Agrawal,SP (Railways) at Agra now joins as SP of Kanshi Ram Nagar,replacing R K Srivastava who was transferred as Commandant of 20 battalion of PAC at Azamgarh.
