Taking a note of surprise visits by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Uttar Pradesh government has written a letter to the Centre in this regard.
“A letter has been sent to the Centre (regarding Rahul’s surprise visits),” Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Subesh Kumar Singh told reporters here.
He said as Rahul is protected by the SPG,it was expected that prior information should be given about his programme so that security arrangements could be made accordingly.
“In this case, the administration comes to know about his visit all of a sudden. It has been asked that adequate information should be given about his arrival,” Singh said.
The ADGP said similar letters had been written to the Centre in the past as well.
Taking the state administration and partymen by surprise,Rahul reached Varanasi on November one and undertook a tour of eastern districts of the state.
However, this was not the first time when the Congress leader took such a step.
In July,Rahul took everyone by surprise when he undertook padyatra from Bhatta Parsaul in Gauttam Buddha Nagar to Aligarh.
