The Peninsula Land Pune Football League kicked off at the Range Hills ground on Friday,with teams from the citys second division gearing up to take on each other over the course of next month.
UPSA and Tiger Combine faced off in the opening match of the tournament,with the former securing a narrow 1-0 victory. UPSA scored early,as striker Virsingh Shirole netted ten minutes after the kick-off,latching on to a pass from teammate Gaurav Jagtap to give his team the lead.
UPSA held on to this lead for the remainder of the match,and grabbed all three points after Tiger Combine failed to find an equaliser before the full-time whistle.
Deccan XI B beat Kings XI in a similar fashion in the second match of the day,with Jai Karkare finding the back of the net in the 35 th minute off a pass from Anil Deshpande.
Deccan then kept their opponents at bay for the rest of the match,holding on for another narrow 1-0 victory.
