The wait for the redressal of the grievances of city residents seems to have grown longer as the UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil is yet to hold a public hearing session after November 21.

Thanks to the busy schedule of the UT Administrator, in all of December, not even a single public hearing session could be held. Even the first Monday of the year, Monday, passed without the public hearing session of the UT Administrator which is usually held on the first and third Monday every month.

Sources say that the UT Administrator is busy and had prior commitments due to which the session could not be held. Now the residents are pinning their hopes on the third Monday of this month for the same.

Significantly, last year, Patil had only held one third of the total public hearing sessions in the entire year.

Also, with the passing of time, the number of complaints has also dropped as in the past, the residents would turn out in large numbers, but for the past one year, only a few complainants have been attending the session.

The uncertainty of the holding of these sessions, besides no action taken on the complaints, are the main reasons behind the low turnout, admitted an official.

Former Administrator SF Rodrigues had initiated this ritual and the number of complainants was much higher in the sessions held by him.

Also, in the past, the complainants and the media, were informed about the schedule and cancellation of the session days in advance, a practice which has been discontinued now.
