Two years after the UT Administration invited architects and firms to submit proposals for the revamp of the Chandigarh Architecture Museum in Sector 10, all the proposals have been canceled.

In a communication sent to those who had applied, the Administration has rejected all the proposals.

The Administration had invited interested architects to prepare proposals for renovating the museum in 2010. The museum, that was adapted from a design that had been created by the founder of the city, Le Corbusier, showcases the various stages of the development of the city.

The thought behind various ideas and old maps and drawings as well as furniture is present in the museum. However, over the past few years, not much development has taken place within the museum.

From amongst those who had applied for the revamping of the museum, presentations were given to a committee. All the firms have been rejected since none had experience in the field.

An architect from one of the firms that participated in th eapplication and later gave apresentation to the Administration stated that there was no specification given in the advertisement about the budget that was desired to be to be spent on the revamp and nor were the areas that were to be revamped specified in the advertisement.

Proposals have been mooted off and on to keep rotating the items that are on display so that the visitors get to see new ones.

In fact the UT Administration has not been able to find people for managing museums as well.

For more than a year the Administration has also not been able to find a suitable person to head the Le Corbusier Centre in Sector 19. While candidates were interviewed to head it, no selection was finally made.
