City-based Vascon Engineers Ltd has bagged the contract to design and construct HDIL’s commercial complex coming up in Kurla. The construction of the project will take place in two phases.

With an estimated cost of about Rs 2000 million , the first phase of the project comprises three levels of basement parking and 11 floors above ground. Speaking at the bhoomi puja function of the project, R Vasudevan, managing director, Vascon said that the total built up area of the project would be approximately 5 million sq ft, with about 2 million sq.ft being taken up in the first phase. Vascon plans to complete this phase in about 18 months. “This is one of the largest project taken up by Vascon on design-and-build basis in Mumbai. One of the highlights of this project will be the use of post-tensioning technique for casting concrete, which helps to reduce cost, increase speed, enhance strength and ensure higher working space,” R Vasudevan added.

Rakesh Wadhwan, chairman HDIL, said, “Vascon has a great track record in engineering quality mega projects within tight deadlines. We are confident that this prestigious project is in capable hands.” Vascon is already involved in two other major projects in nearby Vidyavihar while the development for a third, a high-rise structure is currently ongoing at Ruby Mills, Dadar. “As of now, Vascon is involved in construction of commercial space for contact value about Rs. 4,165.97 million in Mumbai, ” R Vasudevan said. Apart from Pune and Mumbai, Vascon projects have already come up in a few other cities.
