AIMED at improving the economic condition of small vegetable vendors and to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to consumers, the Municipal Council, in collaboration with ACME Cold Chain, has distributed temperature-controlled carts among some vendors in the town. These carts have initially been given on a one-month trial basis.
These temperature-controlled mobile carts would help in enhancing the shelf-life of fruits and vegetables, besides minimising wastage.
Giving details, business manager of the company Dr Ashwani Dhiman said the company, after its successful experiment in Delhi, has decided to distribute the carts free of cost on one-month trial basis to fruit and vegetable vendors of the town.
The authorities of the Council have allowed the company to distribute these carts under the “Green Solan Project”.
These carts would also be fitted with electronic weighing scales. Dhiman said if the experiment is successful in the town, these mobile carts would be made available through micro-finance to vendors of the town.
