Venus Remedies gets patent for pneumonia drug

Drug maker Venus Remedies said the Indian Patent Office has granted a patent to its research product 'Potentox',used for the treatment of pneumonia.

Drug maker Venus Remedies said the Indian Patent Office has granted a patent to its research product ‘Potentox’,used for the treatment of pneumonia.

This is the second patent of Potentox within three months of grants in South Korea,Venus Remedies said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

“The company is in the process of out licensing and further registration of this product in different markets worldwide,” it added.

The company had launched the product in the local markets two years ago.

According to Venus,Potentox has already been used by more than 20,000 patients across the country.

Shares of Venus Remedies were trading at Rs 281.30,down 0.74 per cent in late afternoon trade on the BSE.
