The feud in the Sangh outfits of Gujarat has taken a new dimension with the VHP members sending one lakh SMSes on Tuesday against its sister organisation - BJP, which is running the state government.
It all started with the arrests of Ashwin Patel, a VHP member by the Gandhinagar police alleging that he was instrumental in sending SMSes defaming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi after the July 26 serial blasts.
One of the SMS send on Tuesday by the VHP read, “Bomb blasts in Gujarat under whose rule?” Another SMS send by the VHP to the people said, “Wah re Modi tera khel, Muslimo Ko mithai, Hindu ko jail (Modi is playing game by giving sweets to Muslims and jail to Hindus)”.
“Today, through out the day our party workers have send one lakh such SMSes to people of the state,” VHP office bearers said.
“The government has arrested our leader Ashwin Patel for sending defaming SMSes. By the SMS campaign we want to challenge the government to arrest more VHP workers. Thousands of VHP workers were involved in sending SMSes today and now they should arrest them,” he added.
Yesterday, VHP had organised ‘sit in’ and its leaders had courted arrests in protest against arrests of Patel.
The BJP and VHP had worked in close coordination at the time of 2002 Gujarat riots, however, after the the riots both the organisation had fallen off.
The VHP leaders say that the main reason for the soaring of relationship was dictatorial ways of Gujarat Chief Minister.
