After the accident,Bhullar allegedly did not stop the car and dragged the youths for about 100 meters. Later,he reportedly fled.

In the accident,Gagandeep, who was driving the motorcycle, fell on the car’s bonnet and got entangled in the left wheel. The other youth,Mandeep Gill, too, sustained injuries. Gagandeep (21),who was dragged by the car,is admitted in PGI; his condition is said to be critical.

Both the vehicles were reportedly speeding when the accident took place.

“We had gone to get cold water from a water cooler near Kiran. We stopped at the red light and moved when the signal turned green. We were turning right towards Kiran Theatre when a car rammed into our bike,” said Mandeep. “Gagandeep was dragged by the car for about 100 metres. When the car finally stopped,he was unconscious. The police officer stood there for a while, and then went away,” he added.

The families of the youths were unaware of the case when Newsline contacted them. Gagandeep’s uncle Surinder Pal said he came to know about the incident at 3 am and rushed to the hospital. “It’s very unfair a case that has been registered against them,” said a sobbing Surinder Pal.

“The bike was not his and he never drove fast. He never used to even drink and was very responsible on road,” said Gagandeep’s friend Amandeep.

The only son of his parents,Gagandeep was preparing for TOEFL exams and staying as a paying guest in the city.
