Vihir cinematographer gets Asia Pacific Screen Award

City-based director Umesh Kulkarni’s film Vihir has another feather in its cap.

City-based director Umesh Kulkarni’s film Vihir has another feather in its cap. Its cinematographer Sudheer Palsane has bagged best cinematographer award at Asia Pacific Screen Awards held in Australia. The award was declared on December 2.

Palsane has won the best cinematographer award for the same film earlier too. A former student of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII),Palsane has so far been cinematographer for films such as Valu,Gabhricha Paus,Aapa Akka,Die Jungfrau von Palermo (documentary),Elephant Boy (short film),Yeh Hai Chakkad Bakkad Bumbe Bo and Time and Space.

Vihir has received rave reviews and bagged accolades at various prestigious international film festivals,including Berlin,Rotterdam,Pusan,and Karlovy Vary film festival held at Czech Republic. It recently received best film award at New York Film Festival too.

Vihir is produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd. Though Vihir was an experiment,besides being shown in various international film festivals,it ran for over 75 days in city theatres. It was also received well in small cities such as Satara and Kolhapur along with Pune,Mumbai and Nashik.
