Supporters of S S Virk, the controversial former Punjab DGP who was suspended by the SAD-BJP Government, are hopeful he would become the next DGP of Maharashtra since the appointment of A N Roy to the post has been set aside by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). Virk belongs to the Maharashtra cadre. However, with Roy’s backers determined to get the Government to challenge the CAT ruling in the state high court, Virk chances are slim.
