“Vishav Mangal Go Gram Yatra” which started from Kurukshetra on September 30, will reach the city on October 5.
Disclosing this, Sumer Kharbanda, press secretary of Ludhiana unit of this yatra, said, “The main aim of this yatra is to promote pure breed Indian cows as they are more beneficial. While the mixed breed and imported cows milk contains cancer creating agents. Moreover, the desi cow is also useful for the Indian economy. Being an agricultural-based country, a part of agriculture land is ploughed with the help of tractors and a large amount of diesel is used for this. This land can be ploughed with the help off male calves of desi cows.”
Kharbanda said, “As per the report of WHO, breast milk of more than 20% India women is poisonous. The use of desi cows and male calves will help in social upliftment.”
He said that a signature campaign was also going on as a part of this project. He said, “We will collect the signatures of 50 crore Indians and hand over these to the President of India .” The charter of demands for this signature campaign includes, “creation of ministry of cows, using waste matter of cows in totality as the Punjab Pollution Control Board has also recommended the usage of cow dung as fuel instead of rice husk or brickets. Use of cow dung as fuel helps in purifying the environment, while rice husk etc pollutes the environment, the charter argues.
Many saints are taking part in the Yatra. After reaching Govind Godham on Pakhowal Road, the saints will address the public and afterwards will proceed towards Phagwara.
