The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has initiated an inquiry into the death of a seven-year-old boy, who had drowned near the Makarpura bus depot on Tuesday.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner A O Sharma would handle the inquiry to find out the cause behind the incident. He would submit the inquiry report in a month to Municipal Commissioner M K Das.
It was on July 14 when Pradip Parmar, along with his two friends, was returning home from school in the afternoon when the incident took place. Pradip slipped into a 15-feet-deep ditch and died.
Officials said that the laying of the stormwater drainage was over, but the filling work was apparently not properly done, leading to the incident.
“There are several possibilities for the incident and we are trying to find out the root cause. I will go to the depth of the incident and speak to all the concerned officials who were involved in the storm water drainage project,” said Sharma.
City Mayor Balkrishna Shukla has, meanwhile, announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family members of the deceased.
