Volvo buses of Haryana Roadways not allowed to enter Delhi

The Volvo buses of Haryana Roadways between Delhi and Chandigarh are not being allowed into Delhi due to the strict enforcement of the guidelines of the Supreme Court of not allowing buses with black films to ply.

Due to this, the number of buses on the route has reduced, with the process for removal of the black films underway.

Earlier, around 30 buses of Haryana Roadways used to ply between Delhi and Chandigarh. However, the number has now reduced to six. A Haryana Roadways official said that they had asked the officials in Delhi to give them some time, but to no avail.

The timing for the buses that are plying from Chandigarh are 5 am, 4 pm, 5 pm, 10 pm, 11.15 pm and 1 am. All these buses run from Chandigarh to Gurgaon via the Delhi airport. On an average, about 1,350 passengers travel daily in these Volvo buses.

The Haryana Roadways officials state that 2-3 months' time will be required for changing the glass of the buses. About Rs 2 to 2.5 lakh will be spent on changing the windows of each bus.

With the buses not plying, it is the passengers who are suffering. Many of them board the other buses on the route, while some have to depend on taxis.
