Even as the district election department has announced a voters’ ID card coverage of 78 per cent, it is the rural areas that have maximum number of voters with Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

Bhor assembly constituency has the maximum EPIC coverage, followed by Indapur, Ambegaon and Baramati. While the eight assembly constituencies in Pune have nearly 70 per cent coverage, the rural areas have maximum voters with the EPIC.

The district election department, in statistics readied after the first supplementary list with 64 lakh voters for the district, has Bhor constituency with 94.35 per cent coverage, followed by Indapur with 92.92 per cent and Junnar with 91.31 per cent. Baramati assembly constituency has 90.75 per cent coverage while Junnar constituency has 91.31 per cent voters with EPIC. Among the eight assembly constituencies, Shivajinagar has 63.65 per cent coverage, Kothrud has 70.90 per cent and Parvati has 73.29 per cent voters with the EPIC card.

Kasba Peth constituency has registered around 78.88 per cent coverage while Pune Cantonment constituency has 69.91 per cent coverage. The lowest per cent is that of Shivajinagar, followed by Hadapsar with 69.91 per cent EPIC card coverage. With the supplementary list being declared after drive in July, the final list will be declared on September 25.

Meanwhile, the district collectorate is going all-out to ensure that all voters have the EPIC card. However, with the number of voters to increase further, district election department officers are apprehensive about each of them getting I-cards. The department is distributing the ready cards to the electoral registration officers.
