Punjabi University win kabaddi title
Patiala: The Punjabi University kabaddi team (Women) team won the All India Inter-University Kabaddi Championship held at RTM Nagpur University from January 27 to January 29 for the third consecutive time. The team-members returned to Patiala on Friday and were given a warm welcome by the university officials. In the final, the team defeated Meerut University with a 25-16 margin. Captain Mukhtiyaar Kaurwas adjudged as the best raider of the tournament while Moti Chandan was adjudged as the best catcher of the tournament.
Satluj Stunners record victory
PANCHKULA: Riding high on Shashwat Sharma's brilliant knock of 67 runs, Satluj Stunners Cricket Academy Panchkula, registered a 68-run win over Holy Family Cricket Academy in a match played during Friendship Cup Series played at Satluj Public School, Sector 4, Panchkula. After winning the toss, Satluj Academy elected to bat first and made a total of 179 runs for the loss of five wickets in allotted 25 overs. Shashwat Sharma hammered 67 runs for Satluj Academy while Eshan Sharma made 37 runs. For Holy Family Cricket Academy, Sukhbir (2 for 37) was the main wicket-taker. In reply to the total, For Holy Family Cricket Academy were bowled out for 111 runs. Despite Karthik Kapoor scoring impressive 67 runs, Holy Family Cricket Academy lost the match as he ran out of partners at the other end. For Satluj, Sahil Vashist claimed two wickets for 11 runs, while Shubham Sheokand took two for 23 runs.
Brief Scores: Satluj Public School: 179 for 5 in 25 overs (Shashwat Sharma 67, Eshan Sharma 37, Aryan Verma 32, Shubham Sheokand 12, Sukhbir 2 for 37, Karthik 1 for 19) beat Holy Family Cricket Academy: 111 all out in 23.1 overs (Karthik Kapoor 67, Pradeep 21, Sahil Vashisht 2 for 11, Shubham Sheokand 2 for 23, Sukhraj 2 for 31).
