As many as 500 Air India employees on Friday staged demonstrations at various sections of the Mumbai airport against Air India’s decision to defer employees’ June salaries by 15 days. The employees held demonstrations outside their union offices at the domestic terminal, Sahar terminal and Kalina end of the airport that houses AI offices.
“Employees of three unions took part in the demonstration and it was an effort taken by the members across India,” said J Kadian, Secretary of the Air Corporations Employees’ Union (ACEU). Other unions, which participated in the demonstrations, were of the Aviation Industry Employees’ Guild (AIEG) and Indian Aircraft Technician Association (IATA). The demonstrations, however, did not affect flight operations at the airport. A spokeperson for the Mumbai airport confirmed it.
