  • Tuesday’s rain had left Amitabh Bachchan struggling with waterlogging at his Juhu bungalow Prateeksha and office Janak, the superstar complained on his blog.

“Prateeksha is inundated. The road outside is in waist-deep water and the lawn, even though it is built on a rise, has been filled up and threatening to push the rain into the house. As I prepare to move furniture and stuff from the ground to higher positions, mini waves drift in from the road into the driveway and reach the first step into the house,” wrote Bachchan, 66, who is currently recovering from stomach pain.

He said staff were trying to clear the drains and shift the furniture at higher positions.

“Everywhere there is just chaos. It’s a sea of water all over. Pass by the office Janak and the staff is getting ready to climb on to the tree by the gate! Water inside the premises and the ground floor is unworkable,” Bachchan wrote, adding that he helped a few women whose SUV had been stuck in the high water opposite his bungalow.

Civic officials said the stretch opposite Bachchan’s bungalow was low-lying. “There was flooding due to extremely heavy rain and the water levels rose during the 3.98 m high tide at 4.l5 pm. However, the water receded immediately and the situation was normal in two hours,” said deputy chief engineer (SWD), western suburbs, S Prasade.

Officials said flooding at Juhu will stop with the commissioning of the Irla pumping station, being built under BRIMSTOWAD at Rs 77 crore. It will bring respite to areas such as Milan Subway, Andheri (East) and Santacruz (West). At high tide during the monsoon, the floodgates will open and water from the Irla and Abhishek nullah will be sent to the beach through inlet channels. The pumping station will have eight sets of pumps with a total capacity of 48 cubic metres per second.

Even after fifty yearsBy: Muralidharan | 16-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Even after fifty years if the congress and N.C.P is at the helm in Maharastra the water logging and flooding when it rains in Mumbai will not be solved what did these good for nothing fellows do for the past four years they were fooling the people for their votes and trying to make more money on deals. Yesterday there was a live interview with Mr Sanjay Nirupam the congress M.P from Mumbai on N.D.T.V this man was not able to answer the genuine questions that were being raised by the public. One such person a writer had the guts to tell this M.P on face to quit and get lost Hats off to him, this was the exact words he used if he is not able to solve the basic problems there was also questions being raised by the people regarding the sale of B.M.C lands to the builders this M.P could not give even a single convincing answer I am surprised to see how such a dumb person has been elected as an M.P in the Business capital of our country this shows the sorry state of affiars we are in.>>>>>
