Former captain and pace legend Waqar Younis on Saturday said he is ready to take over as Pakistan's cricket coach. Currently residing in Sydney,Waqar said he would be coming down to Pakistan in next few days to finalise things with the PCB. "They have offered me the position of chief coach with the team until the 2011 World Cup and I have no issues with that," he said. The former captain said he has no issues working with a foreign consultant when required by the board. "I believe that if the board does hire a foreign coach as consultant on series to series basis it is a good opportunity for me to learn and exchange ideas. In modern day cricket you need a combination of ideas and planning to do well," he said. The Pakistan Cricket Board yesterday said it had offered the coaching position to Waqar and was waiting for his reply. "We very much keen on having Waqar as our new coach and we are waiting for his reply," PCB chief,Ejaz Butt said. Waqar,who retired after the 2003 World Cup as captain after taking 373 Test and 416 one-day wickets,was the bowling and fielding coach on Pakistan's tour to Australia. The fast bowler first worked with the national team as bowling coach in 2006 and 2007 before stepping down after a dispute with the board.
