He emphasised that the need was to change the mindset of people so that they adapt the attitude of helping others selflessly which can only bring peace in the world,country,community,family,and even within oneself.

Later,Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari lamented the vanishing concept of “beat policing” where police officers knew the entire socio-ethnic structure of people living in any locality on a one-to-one basis,absence of which is leading to rising crime incidents.

Rotary Shreyas Awards were also presented to people from different fields including films,industry and media. The chief guest on the occasion was economist and scholar Dr Abid Hussain.

The awardees included actor Kirron Kher,Pawan Munjal,managing director,Hero Honda Limited,and Rajya Sabha member H K Dua.

Dr Abid Hussain said, “When you talk of excellence,you talk of values that you add to your work and profession. Excellence also comes by working for others and looking at the neglected millions who are hungry,diseased and deprived who must be taken care of.”
