Keeping the Warren Anderson pot boiling,BJP Thursday alleged the then Rajiv Gandhi government deliberately and willingly conspired to provide safe passage to the Union Carbide chief after the Bhopal gas tragedy and again asked the then

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Arjun Singh to break his silence over the issue.

To back its charge that the then Congress government at the Centre facilitated Andersons escape,BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted a statement issued by Union Carbide in the US the day Anderson was arrested in December 1984 as saying that Andersons arrest violated an Indian government promise to provide him safe passage.

It is not a secret document. It was a public statement and it proves the then government provided him safe passage. We would like to know why Congress is lying. Why is it misleading the nation, Prasad said.

The BJP spokesman objected to the Congress statement that those criticising the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi were unpatriotic.
